Since its founding in 1992, LOF Adaptive has helped individuals with disabilities “soar beyond the boundaries” through adaptive sports. We thank our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and donors for making LOF one of the premier adaptive waterskiing organization in the country and helping us achieve excellence in serving the disabled community.
History: LOF Adaptive Skiers was founded in 1991 when Executive Director and Founder Joel Zeisler helped a Vietnam Veteran re-learn to waterski after a rocket-propelled grenade claimed his vision in the war. This veteran not only re-learned to ski but he also went on to win gold medals at both the World and US Disabled Water Ski Competitions. The experience was so transformative that Joel decided to form LOF Adaptive, one of the first water ski organizations for individuals with disabilities in the country. Today, LOF Adaptive Skiers is a national leader in the field of adaptive waterskiing.
Mission: To build lasting confidence and fulfillment through exposure and professional training in recreational and competitive water and snow skiing to both children, adults and veterans with disabilities.
Vision: Our objective is to improve the lives of our participants by providing them with safe, challenging and memorable adaptive recreation programs.
